As residents begin clearing out post-holiday clutter and tackling larger cleanup projects around the home, Cooper City wants to remind the community of two helpful options for responsible disposal: Broward County’s annual Chip-A-Tree program for real Christmas trees and the City’s 2026 Bulk Waste Collection schedule.
For those looking to recycle their natural Christmas trees, Broward County’s Chip-A-Tree program offers an environmentally friendly alternative to sending trees to the landfill. Through this free program, holiday trees are chipped and repurposed for landscaping throughout the County park system, helping reduce waste while giving trees a second life.
To participate, Broward County residents must remove all decorations, lights, tinsel, and stands from their trees, as decorated trees will not be accepted. Residents may bring up to two natural trees per vehicle to any participating park. Artificial trees, commercial vehicles, and garbage trucks are not permitted.
The Chip-A-Tree program runs daily from Friday, December 26, 2025, through Monday, January 19, 2026, which coincides with Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Regular weekend and holiday park entrance fees are waived for residents dropping off trees, though hours vary by location.
The most convenient participating locations for Cooper City residents include Brian Piccolo Sports Park & Velodrome and Tree Tops Park. Residents are encouraged to call ahead to confirm hours before visiting. Call 954-357-5150 for Brian Piccolo, or 954-357-5130 for Tree Tops Park.
In addition to tree recycling, residents planning larger clean outs can take advantage of Cooper City’s Bulk Waste Collection service, which is provided monthly by Eastern Waste Systems. Bulk collection is intended for oversized household items that do not fit inside standard trash carts and helps keep neighborhoods clean and orderly throughout the year.
The City’s 2026 Bulk Waste Collection Schedule outlines designated pickup dates based on each resident’s regular service day. Residents are encouraged to review the schedule in advance and plan accordingly to ensure items are placed out on the correct date. Additional information about bulk waste guidelines and services is available at easternwaste.com/cooper-city.
By using these programs, residents help support a cleaner, greener Cooper City while ensuring waste is handled safely and responsibly.
