The City of Cooper City will begin emergency repairs to a manhole and drainage pipe at the northeast corner of Hiatus Road and Stirling Road beginning Monday, November 17, at 7 p.m through November 18.

During this first phase of work, westbound lanes of Stirling Road will be reduced to one lane approaching Hiatus Road, and left-hand turns from westbound Stirling Road onto southbound Hiatus Road will remain open. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes to avoid traffic delays while crews perform the necessary repairs.

This work marks the start of a two-part project to address recurring sinkholes caused by structural failures within the underground drainage system. The City previously approved an emergency expenditure of up to $68,815 to complete the repairs, which will include dewatering, structural reinforcement, grout injection, and asphalt restoration. The City's contractor is expected to complete this initial phase within approximately one day.

A second phase of asphalt restoration is scheduled for early December, with more information to be shared once the start date is confirmed.

These repairs are being performed to protect the integrity of the roadway and ensure long-term public safety in this busy intersection. The City appreciates residents’ patience and cooperation as crews work to complete the improvements as quickly and safely as possible.
