The City of Cooper City will host a Town Hall Meeting on Thursday, September 18, at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall (9090 SW 50 Place) to discuss the planned roundabout at the intersection of Hiatus Road and NE Lake Boulevard. Residents are encouraged to attend and learn more about the project.
This project has been several years in the making. In April 2024, the City Commission approved a task work order with The Corradino Group, Inc. to conduct a traffic operational analysis and prepare plans and permitting for the construction of a roundabout. The analysis followed a 2016 traffic study that revealed excessive speeds and a history of right-angle crashes at the intersection. The study recommended measures to improve safety, with a roundabout identified as the most effective solution.
In May 2025, the City Commission advanced the project further by approving Resolution 25-26, authorizing the acquisition of land owned by the Embassy Lakes Master Owners’ Association, Inc. for the roundabout and related traffic safety improvements. This resolution also secured $370,000 in State funds through a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) grant to support the project.
The Town Hall will provide residents with an opportunity to hear updates, ask questions, and share input as this important traffic safety project moves forward.
